Our commitment
NicoCares by Totality wants everyone who may benefit from physician-guided weight care to be able to find out about it, check their eligibility and manage their care on this site, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use.
The standard we build to
We build nicocares.com to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We check new pages and features against that standard as we build them, and we fix what falls short when we find it.
What we do
- Text meets a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 against its background, and controls and graphics at least 3:1.
- Every page has one main heading and a heading structure you can navigate by, and long pages start with a list of their sections.
- Every control can be reached and used with a keyboard, focus is always visible, and the focus order follows the reading order.
- Every form field has a label, and an error message names the field it belongs to.
- Main buttons are at least 44 pixels tall. A link inside a sentence takes the size of the text around it, as the guidelines allow.
- Animation respects your device's reduced-motion setting.
- Pages are built small-screen first, so they reflow on a phone and when text is enlarged.
- Color is never the only way information is shown.
Known limitations
- The eligibility check and the medical intake are long, multi-step forms. The eligibility check keeps your answers while its tab stays open, and the medical intake reopens on the question you left, but each can still take several minutes.
- The medical intake asks for a photo of a government-issued ID. You need a camera or a saved image to upload one. If you cannot provide it that way, email us and we will arrange another way.
- Some small standalone links, such as breadcrumbs and the links at the top of the sign-up page, are smaller than the 24-pixel target size WCAG 2.2 sets. We are enlarging them.
- Illustrations that only decorate a page carry no alternative text, so screen readers skip them. Images that carry information are described.
Other companies' pages
Payment happens on Stripe's checkout page, and messaging with your care team happens in Spruce Health. Their accessibility is managed by those companies. If either stops you from completing a step, tell us and we will help you complete it another way.
Getting help or information in another format
If something on this site is hard or impossible for you to use, or you need information in another format, email [email protected]. Tell us the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and the device, browser and any assistive technology you use. We reply to every report, and we will help you complete what you came to do while we fix the problem.
